We’ve all been there—you plug in your tablet, expecting it to charge, and… nothing. Or even worse, it starts charging and randomly stops. So frustrating! Not to worry.

We’ve all been there—you plug in your tablet, expecting it to charge, and… nothing. Or even worse, it starts charging and randomly stops. So frustrating!

Not to worry. Before you throw your charger across the room or start shopping for a new tablet, put your hand in the air. In most cases, it’s something minor and easy to fix. Let’s tackle it together.

  • how to fix tablet charging issues

🔌 1. Check the Charging Cable & Adapter (Even If It “Looks Good”)

Your cable is probably the problem more often than you think.

Go ahead and try this:

  • Check for visible wear and tear, such as frayed cables or bent tips.

  • If you can, try using another charger. If your tablet charged fine with a different charger, shooting your original (zero-length) charger is a relief! You know what’s wrong!

  • Check your charger in a different wall outlet anyway; at least you would have excluded it as the source.

💡 A little piece of advice:
Cheap replacement chargers are hit or miss. If you can, use your original charger, or one from a brand you recognize and trust.

🔍 2. Look Inside the Charging Port

You may be shocked to see just how much lint or dust gets stuck in there—especially if your tablet spends time in whatever bag or pocket you keep it in.

What to do:

  • Use a flashlight to see into the port

  • Gently remove dirt or lint with a toothpick or a soft brush

  • Do not use anything metal, since the tiny pins inside are sensitive

🔄 3. Try a Quick Restart

We know this basically sounds stupid, but sometimes your tablet just needs a moment to disconnect.

Try the following:

  • Power it completely off

  • Wait for 30 seconds

  • Power back on and try charging again

It’s almost like giving your device a little nap, and it will wake up and behave.

⚙️ 4. Make Sure That It Is Not the Software

Sometimes, the problem is not hardware at all. It is just the tablet being a bit quirky.

Here is how to tell:

  • If it is plugged into your computer, check if there is a software update available and update the software if so

  • If your tablet allows viewing battery health, do a quick check to see what it looks like

  • See if it will charge in Safe Mode (Yes, they have that). If it charges ok in Safe Mode, then it might be an app causing the problem

  • 🔄 5. Try Charging It Differently

If the wall outlet isn’t doing the trick, try another method:

    • Plug it into your laptop’s USB port.

    • Use a power bank.

    • If your tablet supports wireless charging, give that a shot.

Different devices sometimes prefer different charging sources—go figure.

🔋 6. Nothing Still? Give it a Reset

If your tablet is truly dead and unresponsive:

  • Soft reset: Press the power button for about 10–15 seconds

  • Hard reset: Look up your tablet manufacturer’s site for guidance
(just be careful; some hard resets can delete your data)

This will occasionally help to kickstart things if the software is frozen.

🧑‍🔧 7. When to Call a Professional

If you’ve tried everything, and your tablet still won’t charge; it could be a more serious hardware issue — such as a degraded battery or damaged charging port.

At that point, your best option is to:

  • Reach out to the manufacturer support team

  • Have it serviced at a certified repair centre

  • If it is under warranty, do not open it yourself — let them do it

✅ A Few Tips to Help Avoid Charging Issues

  • Use original or certified chargers

  • Try not to leave them overnight too many times — it wears on your battery

  • Keep the port clean and dry (tablets don’t like crumbs)

  • Try to avoid using the tablet while it charges — it generates heat

Charging issues are annoying; however, in most cases they are issues you can fix and troubleshoot without a tech degree yourself.
We hope these steps helped get your tablet
